Our season begins just as our organization did, with the cantatas of J.S. Bach as its foundation. Bach’s energetic and forceful BWV 114 and ravishingly chromatic BWV 3 frame Frank Martin’s poignant last work, the stunning cantata “Et la vie l’emporta,” and select motets by the enigmatic Czech composer—and contemporary of Bach—Jan Dismas Zelenka.
Cantata BWV 114, “Ach, lieben Christen, seid getrost” (1724)
Soloists: Krista River, alto; Bill Hite, tenor; James Dargan, baritone
Et la vie l’emporta (1974)
