Cantata Singers

Cantata Singers celebrates the 15th anniversary of integrated arts education in urban schools along with the music of Benjamin Britten, the season’s featured composer. Britten was dedicated to writing music that children could perform and enjoy. He was also a champion of music education for children. This confluence provides opportunities for an exciting season of collaboration and unforgettable musical experiences.

Cantata Singers and its Education Program are committed to:

engaging students and teachers in urban Boston schools in the creative art of music composition
sharing the discipline and joy of singing
connecting the musical endeavors of composition and performance to skills, concepts and themes in core curricular areas of literacy and numeracy

In 2008-2009, we renew this commitment and celebrate our accomplishments in urban arts education through special collaborations with city-wide musical organizations and individuals who are also dedicated to Boston urban children.
